Features like Circle to Search and Live Translate to be Available on Samsung’s Foldables and the Galaxy S23 Series
Expanding Access to Galaxy AI
If you’ve been hesitating to upgrade to the latest Galaxy S24 Ultra, you’re in luck. Samsung has officially announced that its Galaxy AI features will soon be available on a wider range of smartphones. This means popular functionalities like Circle to Search, Live Translation, Instant Slow-Mo, and Generative Edit will soon be accessible on your older Samsung device.
Enhanced Functionality with OneUI 6.1
The rollout of Galaxy AI features comes as part of a highly anticipated software update. This update, designated as OneUI 6.1, is Samsung’s tailored version of Android. With it, users can expect to enjoy a comprehensive suite of Galaxy AI capabilities, including Google’s Circle to Search and Samsung’s Edit Suggestion. Additionally, the update brings auto summarization features to exclusive apps like Samsung Notes and enhances photo editing capabilities within the Samsung Gallery app. Similar to Google’s Pixel smartphones, this update also introduces the ability to generate wallpapers directly on your Samsung device.
Galaxy AI Beyond Flagship Devices
This expansion of Galaxy AI functionality demonstrates Samsung’s commitment to delivering cutting-edge features to a wider audience, ensuring that even older devices remain relevant and powerful in the ever-evolving smartphone landscape.
Optimizing User Experience
In addition to the Galaxy AI-branded features, the OneUI 6.1 rollout introduces a variety of other enhancements. Among them, users can expect to see an expansion of Lock Screen widgets, now with added support for Samsung’s own apps such as Samsung Health. Furthermore, Samsung is implementing its iteration of Android’s adaptive charging mode, known as Battery Protection, aimed at optimizing battery longevity by preventing overcharging when left on the dock overnight. Additionally, the update includes the transition to Quick Share, rebranded officially by Samsung but powered by Google, offering seamless sharing experiences.
Broadening Compatibility
The One 6.1 update will be accessible to all Galaxy S23 models, encompassing the Galaxy S23 Ultra and the Galaxy S23 FE. Additionally, the update extends to Samsung’s foldable lineup, including the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5, along with several tablets such as the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra, Tab S9, and Tab S9+.
Future-Proofing Your Device
Samsung aims to extend Galaxy AI to “over 100 million” of its users, with the possibility of additional devices being included in future update lists. If you own any of the devices mentioned above, anticipate receiving the software update by late March 2024.
